Jim has been sailing with the Victoria Sailing School since 2007.

Even though he's a Colorado native, he's been ocean sailing since 1987, bareboat chartering in the following locations: U.S. & British Virgin Islands; British Columbia Southern Gulf Islands; Sea of Cortez; and has completed several sails from Marina del Rey to Catalina and back. Formal sailing classes include ASA 101, ASA 103, ASA 104, and ASA 105. He has recently retired from a career in State government.

Beside sailing and being an avid snow skier, he enjoys canoe trips with his daughter, deep-sea fishing, boating/houseboating at Lake Powell, riding dirt bikes (motorcycles).  He has an Advanced Open-Water scuba diving certification.  His other activities include teaching Ballroom dancing with his wife, dealing Craps, Blackjack and Poker, finishing his novel, entering chili cook-offs and being a good husband and dad.  Not all necessarily in order.  Like most retirees, he is busier now than when he was working.
